Your House May Be Closer to "Listing Condition" Than You Think

When someone thinks of selling their home - that "pit" usually starts in your stomach because you know how much work it can be to get it ready to sell...the decluttering, the paint touchups and etc...but today's market makes that process look a bit different.

In the past year, with homes selling quickly, 50% of homeowners took less than a month to prepare their home to sell and 20% did it in less than 2 weeks! With interest rates rising, buyers are wanting to find their home now before the threat of increased rates come true. The limited number of homes that are on the market gives fewer options to those buyers that are ready right now.

What does that mean to you as a seller? The buyers that are out there may be willing to take on some of those projects that you would typically do before putting the house on the market - in other words, you may not have to repaint the entire interior of the home - maybe just do some touch-ups instead.

You can focus on the less time consuming (maybe, unless you've lived in your home for a super long time!) tasks such as packing away the personal items or packing clothes away that you won't need until you've move (this makes closets look larger by having them only half full) - these are things you are going to do anyway when moving so you might as well get it done before listing.

Buyers are still looking for updated/move in ready however they may be willing to take on small projects such as painting a room or two as that will be what makes the house their home.

If you have questions about what projects should be done, let us know - we are here to help in any way that we can!
